Twitterati poke fun at KL Rahul after he posts a picture drinking coffee

Over the last few months, KL Rahul, the Indian batsman, has become one of the most dependable cricketers of his team. The right-hander has batted in most positions and hasn’t flattered to deceive by any stretch of the imagination. He was one of India’s leading run-scorers in the tour of New Zealand earlier this year. He took apart the opposition bowling without much of a fuss.

He has also been donning the keeping gloves effectively. Even after Rishabh Pant returned from injury, the team management has persisted with Rahul as the wicketkeeper. He has managed to impress skipper Virat Kohli, head coach Ravi Shastri and the other support staff. He was also set to lead the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

KL Rahul trolled

He was appointed as the skipper after Ravi Ashwin was traded to the Delhi Capitals (DC). But for the time being, he has been spending time at home as there’s no cricket due to the lockdown phase after the coronavirus pandemic. However, prior to the good times, Rahul had to face some controversies, which could easily have turned detrimental to his career on the field.

He featured in the chat show Koffee With Karan, hosted by Karan Johar. There he went along with Hardik Pandya, who made comments, which were deemed sexist and misogynistic. The words sparked an outrage and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) handed the duo with temporary suspensions. To their good luck, they made a comeback and played the World Cup.

Pandya came back in the 2019 tour of New Zealand, even as Rahul played in the T20I series against Australia. Before that, Rahul had to play for India A though. In the meantime, Rahul posted a picture where he can be seen, drinking coffee, going by the caption of his picture.

The netizens didn’t take time in drawing the parallels of the picture to Rahul’s controversial appearance in the chat show. Subsequently, they reminded the youngster of the same. “Ha ha, shall we call karan to brew one for you,” one user wrote.
