Sri Lanka once again went down without a fight in the recently concluded ODI series against Pakistan, suffering their third 5-0 whitewash this year. Upul Tharanga-led Lankan side had earlier faced clean sweeps at the hands of South Africa and India.  After an impressive Test outing in UAE, it looked like the Lankans are back to winning ways but only in a matter of time the truth was out in the open.

Several cricket experts and players took to Twitter to express their critical views on the visiting side while others congratulated Pakistan on winning the series in a comprehensive manner. Sri Lanka’s Test opener Dimuth Karunaratne went on to congratulate the young Pakistan’s bowling sensation Usman Khan.

Khan floored the visitors batting order in just four overs, and in the process became the chief architect in winning the fifth and final ODI match. Karunaratne tweeted “5 Wicket form 20 Balls… Phenomenal bowling from Usman Khan with new ball..Congrats for your 1st 5 wicket haul  #SLvsPAK”

In no time, the cricketer faced flake for his tweet. One of the Twitter user wrote “poor batting than phenomenal bowling”. While another cricket fan questioned the selection of the players. One of the Sri Lankan fan slammed Karunaratne and asked him if he is a Lankan supporter or Pakistan’s. He added that it is not wise to cheer for oppositions while the game is still on.

Clearly, the fans were not impressed with the cricketer’s tweet and also their team’s poor form in limited overs cricket. The visiting side will now gear up for the T20I series. With big names like that of the skipper Tharanga and veteran pacer Lasith Malinga pulling out of the one-off final T20I game in Lahore, it is not up to the youngsters to make an impression and end the tour on a positive note.
