In the past few days, the Indian masses are busy contemplating over their nationalistic stance. The massive uproar is all about the national anthem being played at the movie theaters before the commencement of any movie. Many believe it is forced nationalism. However, veteran Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir stood in the favor of it.
He took to micro blogging site Twitter to express his stance on the entire issue. Gautam Gambhir noted that if the people can stand in long queues for entering a club or to eat at a restaurant, then standing for 52 seconds for the national anthem should not be a tough ask. He posted another tweet expressing the same message in a more sarcastic manner.
“Standin n waitin outsid a club:20 mins.Standin n waitin outsid favourite restaurant 30 mins.Standin for national anthem: 52 secs. Tough?,” Gautam Gambhir had tweeted.

“Am sorry my young friend at d moment we don’t have time to stand for u as we r busy debating whether to stand for national anthem or not!,” he had written in another tweet.

Gambhir is a highly patriotic person and has time and again posted updates showing his patriotism. He has been very vocal about his opinions and has not been shy of criticizing people for their apathy towards the nation, or the army. His stance on the national anthem issue also seems to be on the same lines.
While many would think that it would have drawn praises for Gambhir, the scene seems to be a very contrasting one. The Twitterati slammed the veteran cricketer citing that there are bigger issues to discuss than this one. He became the target of the fans for showing ‘fake’ nationalism and the tweets were indeed very brutal. There were a few who supported him, but majority looked against him.
Here is how the Twitterati slammed Gautam Gambhir for his tweets:
Standing outside the club: personal choice.
Standing outside fav restaurant: personal choice.
Standing for anthem : personal choice.Tough?

Again, ego.
It's good for people to stand for the national Anthem. You can't force people to stand for it. Simple reasoning. Gosh!— Roache Material (@gunsandroches) October 27, 2017
11 year old Santoshi died not for lack of National Anthem, but was denied ration for 8 months. PROVIDE FOOD FOR POOR! Tough?

I agree he/she should. But you can't force it. I know I will always stand for it. Because I want to. But I cannot force it on others. Simple

Anything that is forcely imposed is not right. That is itself violating fundamental human rights.

Well, the point is not respecting the nat.l Anthem. But the problem is why Anthem should be played in Cinema Halls?
Don't change the subject— Dr. S Mandad (@S_Mandad) October 27, 2017
Respect for national anthem and nation comes from within and every citizen has that, but forcing it to prove is utter nonsense.
