India lost the golden opportunity to seal the three-match series in Cardiff itself as they were trumped by England in a thrilling game. The visitors tried very hard to defend the middling total of 148 runs but the batting line-up of the opposition was way too good and they kept coming at them despite the fall of wickets. With the bat, the powerplay went wrong for the Men in Blue and one of their openers Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed in a weird fashion only to get trolled on Twitter later.

After being invited to bat first on a pitch which was not a graveyard for the bowlers, Rohit Sharma struggled from the word go and lost his wicket in the second over. Moreover, they also got to a slow start thanks to the accurate bowling from the new-ball bowlers of England. Dhawan looked good during his brief stay in the middle and tried to move around in his crease as well to manufacture runs in tough situations.

Rare kind of dismissal

But the luck was not with him in this encounter it seems. In the fifth over, Liam Plunkett banged the ball short into the body of Shikhar Dhawan. He was in strife while playing and got hit as he went for a close run. Jason Roy who was fielding at backward point, charged in and threw the ball towards the bowler’s end where Eoin Morgan somehow managed to disturb the stumps as he felt he had missed the chance.

Meanwhile, Dhawan, while trying to plonk the bat in, lost the grip as the willow got stuck into the ground and could never get inside the crease. The moment when the bails got out of its groove, he was inside the crease but his whole body was in the air which led to his dismissal in the end. He could only score 10 runs and is yet to make a significant contribution in this series.

Twitterati was in splits after watching his wicket and trolled him hilariously. While some of them felt he was unlucky to get out, few felt the casual approach from the left-hander cost him his wicket.

Here’s how Twitter trolled Dhawan:
