Indian pacer Mohammed Shami celebrates his 27th birthday today. In Shami’s short career so far for India, he has picked 177 wickets at an average of almost 27. His new ball burst has pegged back the opposition on a number of occasions. The right-arm fast bowler uses his tall frame to extract extra bounce even on docile tracks.

Line and length being his forte, Shami looks to lead the bowling attack from the front and has been a constant face in Indian side from past three years. Shami was a part of the Indian squad for Test series against Sri Lanka, where he was able to provide important breakthroughs.

Shami’s dazzling career

At an early age, Shami moved from Uttar Pradesh to Bengal to live his dream and began his career representing Bengal Cricket, and made his first-class debut against Assam in 2010 when he bagged three important wickets. Shami impressed the selectors just after 15 first-class games and was awarded his ODI cap in the series against arch-rivals Pakistan in 2013. His ability to bowl at a constant pace with effective in-swingers helped him to be a part of World Cup squad. He led admirably throughout the World cup, finish with 17 wickets.

Shami has been a part of India’s new dawn, at least in Tests. His consistent performance has helped the pacer to pick 91 wickets in ODIs from just 49 games, at a healthy average of 26.43.

With age being on his side, Shami has a bright future ahead of him and looks a prominent face to be a part of both, coloured as well as the white jersey. The 27-year old has played for Delhi Daredevils in the IPL, where he picked just 18 wickets in 31 matches. He will look to improve these numbers in next year’s IPL. On his birthday, the fast bowler received wishes from his beloved ones and fans.

Here are some of the birthday wishes that came his way through twitter:
