Twitterverse unhappy with Suresh Raina's omission from ODI squad

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced a batting heavy 17-member Indian squad for the ODI series against South Africa. A week before the announcements were made, veteran cricketer Suresh Raina had cleared the yo-yo tests – the mandatory tests all national cricketers are expected to clear.

Amidst this backdrop, it was being speculated that Raina could well make his comeback to the national side again. Moreover, it was his failure in these tests in his previous attempts that had seen him miss out on being a part of several home series this season. Along with him, another veteran big name, Yuvraj Singh, was also in contention to be named in the Indian squad.

However, much to their disappointment, both Yuvraj and Suresh Raina failed to make a comeback to the team. It is worth noting that the chief selector MSK Prasad soon clarified the reasons for the omission of the two senior stars from the team.

Raina has had a poor run with the bat in the recent times. He played for Uttar Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy this season. However, he failed to put up a big score for the selectors to take notice of the same. At the same time, it is also worth noting that the previous outing that Suresh Raina had with the Indian team was a big show.

He last played in an international match for India earlier this year when India hosted England for a 3-match T20I series. In the final T20I of the series at Bengaluru, Raina had scored 65 valuable runs in a winning cause. Since then, he has failed to make a comeback to the Indian team.

Meanwhile, his fans are utterly disappointed with his omission from the South African series. They took to Twitter to express their disappointment.
