Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced their home season for 2018/19 as they have focussed much playing on more limited overs format. They had the likes of Zimbabwe, India and Australia touring the rainbow nation this year and it proved to be a challenging one for the hosts. While they won all the Test series, Virat Kohli and his men were tough to handle in ODIs and T20Is. However, South Africa will host Pakistan and Sri Lanka along with Zimbabwe during their home season.

CSA seems to be targetting the 2019 Cricket World Cup as the team will play 13 ODIs and 9 T20 Internationals from September 2018 to March 2019. They have already released the itinerary of all the series as the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe will begin on September 30 and their tour will end with 3 T20Is on October 14. While Pakistan will play 3 Tests, 5 ODIs and 3 T20Is, Sri Lanka will only play a Test match less than their Asian counterparts.

CSA Chief Executive delighted

The acting Chief Executive of CSA, Thabang Moroe, was delighted to announce the schedule of South Africa for their upcoming home season and cleared that they have kept a keen eye on 2019 World Cup while designing the schedule.

“We are pleased to announce the complete schedule of international cricket for our home season. It is going to be a very busy period and a very big one for our Standard Bank Proteas who will be using the programme of 13 ODIs against three different opponents in addition to the away tours to fine tune their preparations for the 2019 ICC World Cup to be played in England and Wales commencing on 30 May next year,” he said according to the released statement.

He also felt that there will also be a lot of entertainment for the fans as the strong Asian teams were visiting the country to play cricket. “Following the outstanding Test match cricket played by the Proteas during the past season we can also look forward to plenty more world-class entertainment by our acknowledged stars during the five Test matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka,” Moroe added.
