India have already sealed the 5-match ODI series 3-0, and as the fans would suggest, the remaining two games look like dead-rubbers on the cards. For MS Dhoni fans, the 4th ODI between the two sides is going to be an eventful one as the former Indian captain and the current wicket-keeper batsman eyes two milestones. Tomorrow’s game will be Dhoni’s 300th ODI, and there are certain records which are expected to feature on his list.

Milestones beckons

Dhoni has 99 stumpings to his name so far. He is tied for the top spot with former Sri Lankan legendary cricketer Kumar Sangakkara. Clearly, one more dismissal will take him to 100 stumpings, and that would be a special feat for the charismatic cricketer.  Secondly, he has 72 not out innings in ODI cricket. He is tied for the first spot with Shaun Pollock and Chaminda Vaas in that regard and one more unbeaten knock will make him the first player to have 73 or more not out innings.

Dhoni has been in good form. He has scored vital knocks in the last two games and has looked very much in control. He has changed his pads and a few technical polish ups have made one of the best finishers in the game get back into his groove.

Asset to the Indian team

Dhoni has always been an asset to the Indian team. Apart from leading India to two world cup trophies, the ‘Man with the Midas touch’ has always been a team-man. Recalling one incident, Indian Chief selector MSK Prasad recently told Indian Express, “While training at the gym late in the night, Dhoni picked up weights and suddenly there was a catch in his back and fell with the weight. Thankfully, the weight did not fall on him. He could not walk, he was literally crawling. He pressed the alarm bell, and the medical staff immediately came and attended him. He was taken on a stretcher.” The incident took place just before the Asia cup match against Pakistan. Later on, Dhoni has assured Prasad that he will be fit to play. He eventually took part in the game and led India to a win.
