The maiden T20I of the United States of America (USA) turned out to be a washout with only 18.3 overs of play was possible across both innings. Dubai, which hardly witnesses 5-10 days of rain across the year, spoiled USA’s T20I debut. The USA’s star batsman Steven Taylor stepped up on the big occasion scoring a quick-fire fifty. He scored a 39-ball 72 as the USA finished with 152/7 in the restricted 15 overs.

After a delayed start, the rain interrupted the USA innings in the 10th over when they were 86/2. UAE were asked to chase 143 from 13 overs but lost two wickets for only 29 runs by the 4th over. It won’t be an overstatement to say the weather stopped the USA from making a winning start to the T20I format. They will be coming out all guns blazing in the 2nd T20I after the confidence they got from the debut.

USA could give UAE a tough fight for their maiden International win considering their performances during the first T20I.
