Team India and Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Umesh Yadav might be included in the Playing XI for their first home game in the IPL against Kings XI Punjab on April 13. According to Kolkata CEO Venky Mysore, the prospect of Umesh playing on 13th April might be a certain possibility. KKR start off their campaign with away matches against the Gujarat Lions on April 7 followed by Mumbai Indians on 9th April.
There were speculations that Umesh was considering to miss the first part of the tournament to manage his workload. His had been in phenomenal rhythm in India’s long home season recently and deserves a break ahead of the Champions Trophy title defence in England in June. But with Venky Mysore conceding he might play on 13th April might affect India’s chances in the Champions if he is ruled out due to an injury.
Taking to his twitter handle Venky Mysore wrote, “Hearty congrats @y_umesh. Exceptional perf 4 #TeamIndia. Enjoy the well-deserved break. C u in Kol fresh & recharged on April 10! @KKRiders.” Umesh has been a champion bowler during their exceptional performance in the long home season and has consistently troubled star-studded batting line-ups with his pace and swing. He scalped 30 wickets in the season and was a perfect foil for Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.

In their recent series triumph against Australia, Umesh was the standout bowler bagging 17 wickets in 4 Tests. On a spin-friendly track in Pune Umesh bowled the perfect lines and bagged a four-wicket haul. He was the only bright spot for the home team in the opening match. He followed it up with an impressive performance in the remaining 3 Tests. In the series decider at Dharamsala, Umesh was the stand out fast bowler and troubled the Aussies on a consistent basis.
