The speculations were rife regarding Manoj Tiwary playing the IPL for the Delhi Capitals (DC) after he attended the trials in Kolkata. Harshal Patel has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to a fractured hand and the team was looking at the possible replacements ahead of the game against KKR on Friday. Tiwary was one of the players to have attended the trials and has eventually missed out on the bus yet again.

The cricketer himself has informed the news on his official Twitter handle and slammed at the rumours being spread of him getting selected in his selected. “Hi frnds.Since u al want 2 know about my selection in d #DelhiCapitals team. It’s important 4 me 2 let u al know that I’m not selected nd I wish al d best 2 d player who has been selected.I just wonder from wher al dis news of me gettin picked comes from Anyways life moves on,” his tweet read.

Here’s his tweet:

Tiwary’s IPL career

Manoj Tiwary played for the Kings XI Punjab last year and couldn’t do much following which the franchise released him ahead of this season. The Bengal cricketer could only muster 47 runs from five outings at a strike-rate of around 106. In the auction, no team showed interest in him and went unsold. But with the Delhi Capitals calling him for trials, Manoj Tiwary was once again hopeful of playing in the T20 tournament.

However, Tiwary had a brilliant season with the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017. Batting in the middle-order, he was exceptional amassing 324 runs in 15 matches at a superb strike-rate of 137. He also played a role of the finisher in the team along with MS Dhoni. But since then the player has been unluckily sidelined and it seems that he won’t be a part of any team this season.

He has currently donned the commentator’s hat in the ongoing season and will most probably be continuing with the same role.
