Indian women’s team cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy received a gigantic welcome when she arrived at the Bengaluru Airport. After a remarkable World Cup campaign, Krishnamurthy, who was an integral part of the Indian women’s team, was greeted with garlands and bouquets by her family.

It looked like all her family members were present to welcome the valiant warrior which included everyone from the kids to the elders. In a video posted on a Facebook post, we got a hint of Veda Krishnamurthy’s warm welcome. Though India could not cross the final hurdle at lords, each and every cricketer of the team deserves a massive amount of respect for their outstanding achievements.

Veda Krishnamurthy’s highlight of the tournament came when she scored a swashbuckling 70 run knock against the Kiwis in their final group stage encounter. The batsman was in a destructive mood in that match as she began the onslaught with Mithali Raj in support. Mithali Raj registered a magnificent century and both their efforts saw the team safely through to the semi finals.

However, the final will also be a moment to remember for Krishnamurthy. Just when the batsman looked settled at the crease and a billion Indians banked on her to take the team home, Krishnamurthy lost her wicket playing an outrageous shot. She faced a lot of criticism for that shot in the final which saw her get out on a score of 35. India went on to lose the match by 9 runs but the team impressed everyone by putting on some stellar performances in the tournament.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the whole team on their return and felicitated each and every member of the team for their contribution. The team will also be rewarded by the BCCI as announced by the board. 10 members of the team will also receive a cash prize from the Railways.
