The Royal Challengers Bangalore kicked-off their campaign with a resounding win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, no one impressed more than Kashmiri-born all-rounder Parvez Rasool. His variations with pace and spin apart from dismissing Shikhar Dhawan with his first delivery ensured that he became a fan favorite.

Speaking before they take on the Delhi Daredevils at home, Rasool said that it was indeed challenging to bowl in the difficult conditions at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Rasool has also credited RCB coach Daniel Vettori for the impressive performance.

“It is very challenging to bowl at the Chinnaswamy stadium, especially for a spinner. But thanks to our coach Daniel Vettori I am able to do well. I keep talking to him and he is helping me learn how to bowl to different kind of batsmen under different situations.”

Rasool also spoke about getting noticed in the context of the IPL and the importance of performing well on a consistent basis.

“For any player, it is important to perform in the IPL to get noticed. I have started off well in the tournament and hope to continue playing well,” pointed out Rasool.

“In a way, I feel a lot of pressure back home. At the same time, it also serves as a motivation for me to do well. IPL by itself is a challenge for me and it is very important for me to do well. I make sure I keep performing well so that youngsters in my valley can look up to me as an inspiration. I am aware of the increasing talent in J&K and I am looking forward to many more players playing in the IPL,” said the soft-spoken all-rounder.

Finally, Rasool pointed out that the setup in the State of Kashmir, where he plays his domestic cricket, is

“The set-up back home is very difficult for a player. Our cricket association is not in a position to help the players too much. Whoever aspires to make it big in cricket has to move out and play in states like Delhi, Mumbai and Karnataka,” explained Rasool.
