The ongoing Ranji Trophy 2019-20 season has already seen big teams been given a run for their money by smaller teams as Mumbai took a beating from Railways in their own backyard. The team management and players were all under criticism for poor batting and performances as the Railways team outplayed them in all departments with ease and outperformed more famous players.

Karn Sharma had won the toss and decided to field first against Mumbai and some really poor batting by the home team saw them getting bowled out for just 114 runs with skipper Suryakumar Yadav top-scoring with 39 runs and Jay Bista making 21. T Pradeep of the visiting team took 6/37, while Amit Mishra bagged 3/41 giving Railways the upper hand. But the performance was criticized by Mumbai legend Vinod Kambli.

Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dube should have played in this match: Vinod Kambli

Former Mumbai legend Vinod Kambli slammed the team for their performances. Railways had replied with 266 runs with captain Karn Sharma making 112* and Arindam Ghosh making 72. Tushar Deshpande picked 4/44, leaving his team trailing by 152 runs. But the second innings was the same story for the home side, as they fared a bit better.

Himanshu Sangwan picked 5/60, as Mumbai was bowled out for 198 runs with Suryakumar making 65 and Akash Parkar making 35*.  This left the Railways to chase just 47 runs, which they did without losing a single wicket and won the match by 10 wickets. Karn Sharma was named the Man of the Match for his hundred. Meanwhile, Vinod Kambli said that he would have liked to see the best Mumbai side taking the field in the Ranji Trophy.

He lamented two of its best players in Shreyas Iyer and Shivam Dube not playing, despite the next international assignment being days away. He tweeted, “Mumbai team ni मस्त डब्बा घातला।  Very poor from the team. Disappointed to see @ShreyasIyer15 & @IamShivamDube not being a part of the Mumbai set up for this game when the international game is 5 days away. Would like to see the best team playing when possible. #RanjiTrophy”
