Veteran all-rounder Daniel Christian signs for BBL side Melbourne Renegades

One of the most experienced and a veteran in the league, Daniel Christian is all set to switch franchises coming to this Big Bash League. Currently plying his trade for the Delhi Daredevils, the all-rounder has had a terrible IPL thus far conceding a dozen runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final over of the innings.

In the four matches that Christian has played in the IPL, he has scored 26 runs, with a high score of 13 while picking up four wickets with the ball. However, his economy rate has taken a hit since last year, conceding nearly 9 runs an over, while he only gave away 8 runs in the previous season.

His all-round skills, however, is a crucial asset in the Australian pitches and the conditions which favour his bowling. Christian picked up 11 wickets in the previous Big Bash League while scoring 217 runs for the Hurricanes, who finished as runners-up in the tournament.

Overall, the all-rounder has scored a tad above 1000 runs in his BBL career, picking up 47 wickets in the tournament. The Australian has already plied his trade for 14 other teams thus far in his career.

Where is Daniel Christian heading to?

In a three-year deal, the veteran would be moving to the Melbourne Renegades, who already have all-rounders Mohammad Nabi and Dwayne Bravo playing in the team. Daniel Christian would be a valuable addition to the already strong all-round team.

“By signing Dan we know we’ve got a T20 player who has proven his ability around the world over a long period of time,” Renegades coach Andrew McDonald said.

His ability to strike the ball cleanly has led to the decision of roping him for the franchise. A proven power-hitter and capable bowler is what the Renegades would get for the next season.

“He has the ability to change the game with his big hitting in the middle order. He also brings useful variations with the ball and plenty of experience bowling at the death so having that option gives the team added flexibility,” he concluded.
