The National Cricket Academy at Bengaluru is considered as the prime cricketing location in the country. Over the years, the national players and the aspiring cricketers have often trained at the venue to hone their skills. However, in the last few days, the NCA has made the headlines for the wrong reasons. Amidst this backdrop, the esteemed institution has received received backing from a veteran Indian cricketer, Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj Singh is revered as one of the modern day masters of the game. The World Cup champion made a herculean comeback to the national side after fighting his personal war against cancer. Recently, he took to micro-blogging site Twitter to express his support for the NCA, Bangalore. In his tweet, he remarked that the reason why he was able to make a comeback to the national side was because of the training and support he got at the NCA.

Here is what Yuvraj Singh tweeted:

“Hearing criticisms abt NCA. I wud like to share my experience that the reason why I was able to bounce back aftr cancer was the national cricket academy a great facility created by @bcci to help players recover frm injuries with the help of best Physios & trainers in the country,” Yuvraj Singh wrote in his tweet.

Yuvraj’s remarks have come at a time when several reports surfaced the media about the reluctance of the players to visit the academy. Recently, a report suggested that Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s recent back injury is an example of the poor injury management system at the NCA. Also, many sources conceded that the players are unhappy with the fitness regime at the NCA since they believe that the fitness tests do not validate their cricketing skills.

“It’s not Bhuvneshwar alone. There are no good reports coming from the senior players. They have become reluctant to travel to NCA because they feel the fitness regime at the NCA doesn’t help their cricketing skills,” a BCCI official close to the told TOI.
