It’s a known fact that Harbhajan Singh has been one of the greatest spinners India have ever produced. With over 700 wickets for the Jalandhar-born tweaker, the 38-year-old has troubled the best batsmen in the business. However, his career somewhat capsized after the emergence of the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra, two of India’s leading spinners, especially in Test cricket.

He lost his place in the side and made a comeback only to be left out again. His last international match came against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the 20-overs version of the Asia Cup in Bangladesh. He couldn’t make the World T20 squad following which he never came into the contention.

However, the experienced campaigner hasn’t shelved his hopes of playing for India again. Recently, the veteran said that he would be more than happy to don the national jersey if given an opportunity. “If they call me, I am always ready,” Harbhajan was quoted as saying in Hindustan Times.

The pressure of winning is more in MI

Harbhajan is currently plying his trade for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), captained by MS Dhoni, in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In three matches, the Turbanator picked up five wickets and also didn’t give away a whole lot of runs in his spell of four overs.

Prior to the erstwhile edition, Harbhajan had played for Mumbai Indians (MI) for 10 seasons after which the franchise released him. Subsequently, his services were brought by the Super Kings and he hasn’t let them down. Talking about the difference between playing for both the teams, Harbhajan said that in CSK, there’s not much pressure of winning in CSK, which wasn’t quite the case in MI.

“I have great respect for MI and they are wonderful this year as well, but the pressure of winning is more there. Here in CSK, it’s more chilled out, you are expected to win, but it’s not a matter of life and death here,” he added.
