Vinod Kambli arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, later released on bail

Vinod Kambli, the former Indian batter was arrested on 27th February 2022 for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Kambli dashed into another car, and that car is owned by former Indian cricketer Ramesh Powar’s wife, Tajaswani Powar.
Manjunath Singhe, the Deputy Commissioner of Police confirmed that Kambli was driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and the case will now be investigated by the Bandra Police.
“He was driving his car in a drunken state. He has been arrested and further investigation is being done by Bandra police station,” said Singhe as quoted by The Indian Express.
Vinod Kambli was subsequently released on bail
Vinod Kambli had dashed into the parked car that was in his compound, after which the cricketer also hit the compound wall as well. He was sent to the police station, where a medical examination confirmed that Kambli was inebriated.
The former Indian cricketer was later released on bail. “He was then arrested and released on bail by evening,” confirmed a police officer as quoted by the Indian Express. Vinod Kambli played 17 Tests and 104 ODI matches for the Indian side between 1991 and 2000. Kambli amassed 1084 runs in Test match cricket at an average of 54.20, and also plundered 3 fifties and 4 centuries in the white flannels for the Indian cricket team.
In ODI cricket, Vinod Kambli plundered 2477 runs with the willow at an average of 32.59 and a strike rate of close to 72. Kambli also scored 2 centuries and 14 half-centuries for the Indian side in ODI cricket. Vinod Kambli played his last international match for the Indian side in the year 2000 against the Sri Lankan side. He scored 3 runs in that match. The current 50-year-old was also a part of the Indian side that played the 1992 and 1996 ODI World Cups as well.
