Virat Kohli is, without question the best cricketer in the world at the moment. It almost seems as though each time he takes to the field with his bat, he is unstoppable and almost always, he makes the impossible happen. This has been reinforced several times when Kohli has been a prominent part of a run-chase. In fact, the chasing records have taken a tumbling each time he has gone out to bat, something that does indeed ensure his superhuman nature.
On the prestigious awards night for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the 30-year old Indian skipper was the recipient of the Polly Umrigar award, something that is awarded to the best international cricketer of the year. It is certainly no surprise that the Indian skipper is the recipient of the same award for the year 2016-17 following his impressive run of form with the bat.
In addition to his fantastic amassing of runs for the side, Kohli has also been one of the brightest captains for the side. In fact, obviously, it isn’t the easiest of tasks to take over from the amazing MS Dhoni, but the simple fact that he has indeed been one of the most sought-after cricketers in recent times is something amazing, to say the least.
Speaking at the awards night, Kohli said that he was indeed pleased and happy about the fact that his wife was there to witness him receive the award. He also stated that he was pleased with her presence since she wasn’t married to him the previous time the BCCI decided to bestow him with an award of such repute.
Krunal Pandya and Parvez Rasool secured their Lala Amarnath Awards too.
