Indian skipper Virat Kohli is known for carrying his heart on the sleeve when he is on the field. The Indian captain believes in every inch of the phrase – giving it all to the game. When he is on the field, he gives his cent per cent irrespective of which team he turns up for. Now that he is leading the Indian side, the emotions and intensity is only bound to soar high.

The cricket fraternity know how Virat Kohli used to be a few years ago – brash and brutal in his approach. Albeit he has curtailed that to a great extent, a part of him still loses the cool occasionally. As long as it does not bother anybody else, it seems alright.

However, in a recent incident, the frustration of Kohli could have easily been fatal for a young ball boy. During the first Test between India and Sri Lanka at Galle, Kohli gave a hard run chase to a free flowing delivery during Sri Lanka’s first innings. Sadly for him, he failed to pull the ball before it crossed the ropes.

Losing the chase

Seeing that he had lost the chase, Kohli hit the ball in frustration when he was in the vicinity of the boundary rope. The ball went past the ball boy, who was standing there to collect the ball. A last minute dodge helped the boy escape the moving ball kicked by Kohli.

The action perspired on the second day’s play of the first Test of the three match Test series. It was Upul Tharanga who drove Umesh Yadav through the covers when Virat Kohli failed to complete the chase. Well, in all fairness, the Indian skipper must keep a check on his emotions in such cases which could potentially turn out to be precarious. In the match, team India is in firm command having taken 5 wickets of the opposition after having scored 600 in their first innings.
