Indian skipper Virat Kohli is one of the busiest cricketers around. Kohli has been playing non-stop cricket for quite some time now and has had a very little break. After the gruelling tour to South Africa, Virat was busy playing the IPL. Now, with the conclusion of IPL, he plans to be playing for Surrey in England.

Virat has planned to play county cricket so as to prepare for the England series coming up. Virat has had a very pathetic record in England so far and he seems to be very determined to change things around. He is supposed to leave for England later this month or early June. Virat has also decided to abandon the one-off Test match against Afghanistan to play county cricket.

Too much of workload

However, Virat‘s plans of playing county cricket might not turn into reality. There has been too much of workload on Virat and now playing county will only make things worse for him. According to reports, Virat Kohli’s doctor has warned him of the consequences that would arise if he plays county cricket.

Non-stop cricket over the last 12 months has resulted in the Indian skipper suffering from a slipped disc (herniated disc), and the problem was diagnosed by one of the top orthopaedic surgeons in the country, who practices at a Khar hospital.

Kohli’s doctor, a leading orthopaedic surgeon from a Khar hospital, told him that playing county cricket will only aggravate the herniated disc and he may have to miss out on Test series in England. According to Mumbai Mirror, it is learnt that Kohli visited the Khar Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, where the orthopaedic surgeon and his team briefed him about his reports.

The doctors told Kohli that there has been some damage to the spinal nerves, and there was a chance he may have to miss some part of the England tour, beginning July, if the injury worsened. The doctors, however, were certain that Kohli didn’t need surgery at this stage.

“Kohli was not to feature in the historic maiden Test match against Afghanistan next month, and now with this injury, his county stint will not take off either,” informed a BCCI official who knew about the development. Virat has featured in 47 of the 59 international matches played by India between June 2017 and May 2018 apart from the IPL.
