Virat Kohli bags an honour in the first Instagram Awards

Indian captain Virat Kohli is extremely popular across all social media platforms. His fans want to catch every piece of the story about him that surfaces on the internet and he also makes sure they’re updated from time to time. He has almost 20 million followers on the photo-sharing app Instagram and all his posts have millions of likes.
The platform today announced Instagram Awards, 2017 India to recognize those individuals from the country who have engaged most people. This is the first time such an event was held in the country. Kohli’s account (@virat.kohli) was awarded the “Most Engaged Account”. He was given the award as he generates the maximum number of likes and comments on his posts for all the content he shared in 2017 which doesn’t take into consideration video views or the views on stories.
Whereas the “Most Followed Account” award was bagged by Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone who has the handle – @deepikapadukone. Padukone has 22.4 million followers, the second on that list is the new Hollywood sweetheart from India, Priyanka Chopra (@priyankachopra). Chopra has 22 million followers. Alia Bhatt (@aliaabhatt) took the third place as she is followed by 20.8 million people. The numbers are as on March 2018, and these personalities feature here having got the most number of followers in the last one year.
There was an award for the “Emerging Account” from India and that went to Ishaan Khatter (@ishaan95). He is only present on one social media platform and that’s Instagram. He grew his fan base substantially in 2017 and thus took the award. Though Virat is yet to comment on being given the award, Deepika and Ishaan thanked the people as well as Instagram for the honour.

Ishaan said: “Instagram is the social media platform I love the most. It’s a non-stop source for inspiration from people and personalities all over the world.
