India is a nation which is dominated by cricket. The cricketers have become celebrities in the nation and are widely followed by the public. However, the nation boasts of a wide variety of talent in other sports as well.

Football in India is not very much popular and does not even come close to cricket. Sunil Chhetri, captain of the football team urged the nation to visit the stadium and support the team.

It is a crucial juncture in Indian football and the team needs maximum support from the nation. Virat Kohli, captain of the Indian cricket team, asked the fans to take notice of Chhetri’s post and put an effort to support the football team.

Kohli took to Twitter to request the people of the nation to cheer for Indian football team. He tweeted: “Please take notice of my good friend and Indian football skipper @chetrisunil11’s post and please make an effort.” The skipper also posted a video in which he has highlighted the importance of support the game of football in India. All the sports must be given equal importance if India wants to be called a sporting nation. Though the level of the game is not the same as in Europe, the team is constantly improving and will make the nation proud soon.

The run machine is currently recovering from a neck injury that has ruled him out of the County Championship and the historic test against Afghanistan. He will undergo a fitness test at the NCA soon to determine his participation in further tours. In the absence of Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane will be leading the test team against Afghanistan on June 14 at the M Chinnaswamy stadium.
