The Indian skipper Virat Kohli was seen fuming during the third day’s play in the ongoing second Test against South Africa. The play was interrupted due to the untimely thunderstorm and lightning which led to the heavy rain. However, the action resumed after an hour despite the outfield being wet which troubled the visiting bowlers to grip the ball. It also meant the premier spinner was also out of the attack as he was also struggling with the wet ball and would not get the turn he was getting before the rain.
The Indian team bowlers managed to move the ball around after the resumption of play under the lights but then the umpires stopped the proceedings again only after 5.1 overs. The bad light was troubling the batsmen to spot the ball and Kohli was left fuming who right away went to the match referee to discuss the issue. While the South African batsmen were happy to walk off, it was the Indian camp which preferred to stay in the dugout with a hope of play resuming again.
The live pictures suggested that Virat Kohli was involved in an animated chat with the match referee Chris Board and was visibly arguing with him. He was joined by the team manager Sunil Subramaniam and coach Ravi Shastri as there was a brief argument between them.
State of the match
South Africa is currently ahead in the game as the duo of AB de Villiers and Dean Elgar are batting beautifully and have kept India at bay. They also have the luxury of a 28-run lead as India were bowled out for 307 runs in the first innings. They managed to reach there courtesy a heroic knock of Virat Kohli himself who scored 153 runs. He was well supported by Murali Vijay and R Ashwin which assisted India in getting close to the South African total. The series is on the line for the visitors and expect them to come hard at hosts on the fourth morning.
