The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been one of the unluckiest sides in the tournament’s history, with no IPL titles to their name. Three times, the franchise from Bangalore have come to the finals of the tournament, only to end up as the runners-up.

The first time, RCB reached the finals, it was Adam Gilchrist’s Deccan Chargers who edged them in a close final. Further, the next time RCB faced the tough task of facing CSK in the finals, and the result was a comprehensive win for the side from Chennai.

Since the disappointment against Chennai, they have reached the finals only once where they collapsed to give the title to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Once again, it was a disastrous batting display from the side led by Virat Kohli. Despite getting off to a near-perfect start, with Chris Gayle clearing the boundaries with mere force.

Ee Sala Cup Namde?

This year, however, there was a sense of hope for the Bengaluru fans with them chanting ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’, which loosely translates to The Cup is ours this year. Another factor which was on their side was the luck of the newly married.

Although it doesn’t have an ardent say with the team’s efforts, it was reported that every skipper has won the IPL after their marriage.

MS Dhoni tied the knot to his childhood friend Sakshi Singh Rawat and ended up with an IPL title in the year 2010 and he followed it up with a victory in 2011 as well.

Gautam Gambhir and David Warner too on the list of skippers

On the other hand, Gautam Gambhir’s marriage in 2011 meant that the southpaw won the IPL trophy as the skipper of the Knight Riders side in the year 2012.

2015 saw David Warner marry his girlfriend Candice, and flash-forward, the Sunrisers Hyderabad won the 2016 IPL title defeating the strong Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, won the IPL title before he got hitched to his girlfriend Ritika Sajdeh.

Only Virat Kohli, who got married to girlfriend Anushka Sharma did not manage to get hold of the IPL trophy and thus breaking the tradition of captains winning the trophy.
