Team India skipper Virat Kohli is known for his outspoken nature. Also, he is expressive on the field. The Indian captain, who carries his heart on the sleeve, was recently seen fuming in the Indian dressing room after getting run out in the ongoing Port Elizabeth ODI. India took on South Africa in the fifth ODI at the venue in Port Elizabeth – a venue where the visitors have never tasted success in ODIs.
Coming in to the game, skipper Virat Kohli was arguably the best batsman and the in-form batsman for the visitors. Also, Shikhar Dhawan had been very successful in the series. With Dhawan departing early on in the innings, and Rohit Sharma struggling with his form, the onus was on the Indian skipper to score big yet again. Virat Kohli, who already has 2 centuries to his name in the series, failed to get a big score in the game despite a very good start.
Kohli was run out in 36 in the 26th over of the match. The action perspired in the over bowled by Morne Morkel. On the third delivery of the over, Morkel bowled a back of the length delivery to Rohit Sharma. Rohit tapped the ball in front of the point fielder.
Rohit was unsure about the run and looked skeptical after taking a couple of steps out of the crease. Meanwhile, the very athletic Kohli sprinted towards the strikers end. Much to his disappointment, he saw a hand signalling no from Rohit Sharma midway through his run. Kohli had almost reached the striker’s end and had to turn back to return to his crease.
However, the fielder JP Duminy was on the ball in a flash. He took very little time to let go his underarm throw to catch Kohli out of his crease by miles. Kohli was nowhere to be seen in the frame. He had to head back to the pavilion after fighting it out for 54 deliveries. Later, Kohli was seen fuming in the dressing room as he took his pads off. He even threw his pads away in anger and disappointment.
