Team India thrashed England in the first One-Day International of the three-match series by 8 wickets. The game was expected to be a high-scoring one, but the hosts once again capitulated to Kuldeep Yadav‘s mystery spin bowling. The way he is troubling England batsmen, there have been calls of picking him in the Test squad as well. The Indian captain Virat Kohli hasn’t denied the possibility now and has hinted for a few possible surprises in Test selections.

Kuldeep returned with the magical figures of 6/25 in his 10 overs and never allowed the opposition to get on top of him. This is his second five-wicket haul against England in three matches and is likely to play spoilsport for them in the remaining ODIs as well. His variations are proving extremely difficult for the batters to pick and it is very much possible that he could go on to bamboozle the Test outfit of England.

Will Kuldeep and Chahal both play?

Virat Kohli, while speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, didn’t rule out the possibility of playing both the wrist spinners in whites. Kuldeep Yadav has placed a strong case for himself with this kind of performances and it remains to be seen if the selectors pick three spinners for the five-match series.

“Anything is possible with the selections for Tests and there might be a few surprises. Kuldeep is making a strong case for himself and so is (Yuzvendra) Chahal. And looking at the way, the English batsmen have struggled against them, we might be tempted to do it,” Kohli said.

Meanwhile, the chinaman bowler also expressed his desire to play in whites after winning the Man of the Match for his brilliance with the ball. As far as his Test record is concerned, he made his debut against Australia in Dharamsala last year and then went on to play against Sri Lanka. In 2 matches, the 23-year-old has picked 9 wickets with the best figures of 4/40 in an innings.
