We witnessed a one-way traffic in the third one-day International between India and South Africa and one will have to say, Indian Team has been able to outclass the opposition in all three aspects. The prime form of Virat Kohli had set the tone for the bowlers to try the tricks they have in their resources, which eventually led India to clinch their third straight win in the ongoing series.
Stand-in skipper Aiden Markram won the toss and asked Indian Team to bat first. Seeing the result of first two games, many cricket pundits appreciated the move. However, little did they know, that skipper Virat Kohli has his plans set and is eyeing another hundred. With vice-captain getting out for a duck, skipper came to the crease bit early than he was expecting.
Playing some delightful strokes all around the ground, and letting his bat do all the talking, Virat Kohli registered his 34th International hundred. He scored 160 runs off 159 balls at a decent strike-rate of 100.6. His innings was laced with 12 boundaries and two mighty sixes. The innings became more special after he adjusted to the conditions and played according to the situation. Scoring almost 100 runs in singles and doubles speaks volumes about his character and fitness.
His blistering innings helped India post a mammoth total of 303 runs on the board, putting Proteas under serious pressure. In reply, South African Team lost Hashim Amla early, which eventually had to put them on the back foot. Few cameos by the skipper, JP Duminy and, David Miller were the only good thing happened to the South African team. The Indian spin duo, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal had put the cat amongst pigeons as they picked eight wickets between them to close the one-sided affair.
The result shows the gulf between the two sides and speaks volumes about the run machine Virat Kohli, who refuses to slow down. His innings was well appreciated by veteran batsman Ian Bell, who believes Virat Kohli is at a different level. He tweeted saying, “@imVkohli is just a different level. Another 100 #class”
