Ever since India won the 2nd Test match of the series against England at Lord’s, there have been a lot of people lauding the team for different aspects. India won the Lord’s Test by a huge margin of 151 runs and that left the fans praising the squad for long. In the same sequence of events, former English skipper Nasser Hussain lauded the aggressive character of Virat Kohli which was much needed he felt.

It is known that Kohli is talked about for bringing a lot of passion and enthusiasm on the field and there is never a dull moment with him on the field. He was at his aggressive best against the hosts at Lord’s while they tried to have a go at some of the players.

He was seen involved in some heated arguments and a lot of chirping which grabbed attention. Hussain added that Kohli is the right man to lead the current Indian squad and especially his bowlers want the same thing from him.

“Virat Kohli is the right man at the right time to lead this formidable India side. His players, in particular the bowlers, want an aggressive captain. They want Kohli stirring things up, as he did so effectively in that brilliant second Test at Lord’s,” Hussain wrote in his column for Daily Mail.

“Jasprit Bumrah has always seemed, to me a quiet and reserved character off the field, but look at the way he attacked and went after Jimmy Anderson on that third evening,” he added.

Hussain opens up on his conversation with Ducan Fletcher about Virat Kohli

Hussain further added about his conversation with former India coach Duncan Fletcher who stated that Kohli is someone who wants to win at all costs. He actually represents the new India and won’t be pushed around easily. If fans want to see his passion and competitiveness, they should see him playing football, reckoned Fletcher.

“I remember speaking to Duncan Fletcher about Kohli when he was India coach and he just told me he was a winner. At almost any cost, too,” concluded Hussain.
