Team India took on England in the first match of the tour in Manchester last night, they made a big change adding KL Rahul in the top order, pushing Virat Kohli down and Dinesh Karthik out of the XI. The Karnataka batsman who is trying really hard to cement his place in the Indian team across formats had a wonderful outing in the IPL and against Ireland in the second T20I to push his case further.

He made it count with a hundred and skipper Kohli who gave up his No.3 slot to ensure Rahul who loves to bat among the top three gets to bat there and has enough balls to face. After the conclusion of the game, Kohli didn’t just praise him in the post-match presentation but also put up a post on social media to laud the ‘baaaas’.

Here is Kohli’s post:

KL also reacted to his praise and thanked his bru Kohli.

Lokesh Rahul also posted a special tweet on the special occasion and wrote- Special Day, Special Knock last night at Manchester. Thank you all for the amazing support! Kudos to @imkuldeep18 on a brilliant 5-fer!!”

Here is his tweet:

He walked out to bat in the first over of the chase and stayed there till the end. The second ball Rahul faced from Chris Jordan was just lifted over covers for a magnificent six. It cleared his intentions and proved the kind of form he has been in. Rahul then flicked, cut, pulled the ball, reverse swept when there was an opportunity and thrashed and punished all the English bowlers.

The pacers and spinners received a very similar treatment. KL was dealing in boundaries and his confidence was brimming and it was evident from the way he was able to execute some really difficult shot with absolute ease. He danced down the wicket and knocked balls over boundary if one just cleared the ropes he hit the next well inside the stands.

Towards the end of the chase, Rahul raced to his century off just 53 balls. It was his second hundred in the format and he stood there to take the team home and ensure that his effort was in a winning case. He concluded with 101 from 54 balls that included 10 boundaries and five sixes.
