The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is gearing up for the ODI series against Sri Lanka and it seems like he isn’t taking the Lankans too lightly, even after the dominating one-sided Test series, where India pushed in for a whitewash. Kohli was seen going for a whack during the net session ahead of the 1st ODI against Sri Lanka.

He also mimicked a certain Australian player, looked more like the skipper Steven Smith after smashing the first delivery over the bowlers’ head for a maximum. Smith can often be seen doing a bit of those ‘head moves’ after connecting the leather.

The BCCI’s official Twitter account posted the clip of the skipper practising during a net session.  He can be seen timing the balls to perfection and later had a chat with the head coach Ravi Shastri. Once Kohli left, the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni took his place. What it looked like is the fact that Indian won’t hold back against the hosts and some firecrackers can be expected of them.

Keeping things simple

Kohli likes to keep things simple. In a recent interview, the skipper said, “If you want to be world beaters and win everywhere in the world, you need to do certain things that are out of the box. We’re all ready to embrace that,” he stated.

As if to back up his claim, he added: “If you see the way we’re playing Test cricket right now, we’re getting almost 400 runs in a day, which we didn’t do too many times before.” He also stressed on the importance of a core group. “Yes definitely we believe in our core group. That is the only way you can reach finals of big tournaments and be consistent as an ODI side,” he observed. India will take on Sri Lanka in the 1st ODI on Sunday (20th August).
