The fielding standards in the Indian team is sky high, though they have a few slow legs in the Test team likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ishant Sharma but others in skipper Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Ajinkya Rahane are exceptional fielders and more than makeup for it. But Virat’s expectation is always high especially because he puts in his 100% on the field every time.

Today, when Jadeja threw the ball at the wrong end and a clear run out opportunity was missed the skipper who is rather cool these days lost it and hurled a few tough words at the former. The left-arm spinner is without a doubt not just the best fielder in the Indian team but among the best in international cricket today.

It was the 5th ball of the 55th over of the Bangladesh innings. Umesh Yadav bowled it full at Shakib Al Hasan and he hit a drive beating Jadeja at mid-off, Jaddu chased it and fielded a ball in the deep and threw it in a swift motion to the wicketkeeper’s end which is the default end a fielder is taught to throw the ball at most occasions.

All this while Shakib and Mushfiqur Rahim had a mix-up and weren’t sure whether to go for the second run or not. At one point they were almost both at the keeper’s end and Jadeja threw the ball there as well. This gave Mushfiqur enough time to turn around and make his ground before wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha collected and threw the ball to Umesh Yadav who dislodged the bails at his end but the batsman had made his ground.

The Bangladesh skipper had no chance of making it if the throw was at the bowler’s end but they missed a certain chance here while the partnership between the duo was just flourishing. Mushfiqur was batting on 33 then and made most of it remaining unbeaten on 81 at the end of Day 3’s play.

A Twitter user posted the video of Virat’s reaction:
