Virat Kohli, over the years, has been an epitome of consistency and perseverance. With runs across every format, the Indian skipper has shown exemplary form in the last couple of years or so. The mantle of leadership has rubbed off positively on Kohli as his figures would suggest. In the last four months, Kohli has led India to series victories against Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, he also has shattered several records en route his awe-inspiring centuries. In India’s second Test against Sri Lanka, Kohli emerged as the first Indian skipper to score as many as five double hundreds. The achievements have recently earned him with the award of the CNN-News18’s Indian of the Year. The Indian skipper expressed his delight to the media after receiving the prestigious award.

“It is difficult to express what I’m going through right now. Wherever I might be in life, I always remember where I come from. I have no expectations and no milestones. I just go out there to do my duty. For me the joy of life is seeing the ball hitting the middle of the bat.” Kohli said

Kohli has racked up 51 International centuries during the course of his illustrious career. During the media interaction, Kohli also spoke about his favourite ton in international cricket. “I think from the transition point of view, the hundred in the second innings at the Adelaide Test, where we almost won the match was something special to me. I will always remember that match.” The RCB skipper added.

The Delhi-born cricketer also commented on India’s approach during the game. “Instinctively from my heart, it came to me that I should speak to the team. I had a chat with the players at the team bus after fourth day’s play and Australia had not declared their innings. I told them whatever target they give us tomorrow, we will go for it,” he remarked

A tough season ahead for Virat

Virat Kohli has currently been rested for India’s limited overs fixtures against Sri Lanka. However, he will lead Indian team during their tour of South Africa. On green seaming wickets, it will test Kohli’s repertoire as a skipper. However, If India manage to perform handsomely under Kohli’s leadership, it will add a different dimension to Virat, both as a skipper and as a batsman.
