The recently published ie100 – List of India’s Most Powerful has seen Indian skipper, Virat Kohli climbs up the ladder to clinch the 20th position in the rankings. Apart from Kohli, Mumbai Indians‘ owner, Mrs. Nita Ambani and coach of the Indian National Badminton team, Pullela Gopichand have been featured on the list. These three personalities were the only inclusions in the list from the sporting world.

As reported by The Indian Express, the 2017-18 edition of India‘s Most Powerful list has listed Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at the top of the proceedings, followed by BJP President, Amit Shah at number 2. The presence of the duo at the helm of things may be credited to their effective ministrations in the build-up to the 2019 General Elections. Several political figures, like Sonia Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee, have also secured positions in the Top 10.

Virat Kohli climbs up yet another rank ladder

While Kohli’s exploits in the cricketing field are growing uncountable day after day, his records off the field seem to be piling up too. With 56 international hundreds in the kitty, an indomitable attitude and a hefty net worth, it comes as no surprise that he’s surpassed his previous year’s ranking of 32 and ascended to greener pastures.

In the 2017-18 list, Kohli has secured the 20th rank amongst the powerful Indians. The 29-year old, who was the costliest buy in the history of the cricketing gala, Indian Premier League (IPL), is all set to captain the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 11th edition of the tournament, beginning on April 7.

Mrs. Nita Ambani, who is one of the most dignified faces in the sporting world, has clinched the 66th spot on the list. Not only is she the owner of the two-time cup winning IPL franchise, Mumbai Indians, but she’s also associated with the Indian Super League (ISL) and the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Further, she’s the sole representation from the country in the International Olympic Committee (IOC). As for former legendary badminton player, Pullela Gopichand (Rank: 91), his excellent mentoring abilities have produced some of the finest players of the sport in recent times. Be it Saina Nehwal, P V Sindhu, K Srikanth, H S Prannoy or Sai Praneeth, Gopichand has honed their skills to perfection and brought glory to the nation via his disciples.
