Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is known for his crisp decision making on the field. If he goes for a review, even the biggest pundits agree that the batsman is out. On the other hand, when Virat Kohli asks for review despite Dhoni’s denial, the final decision doesn’t fall in India’s favour. The same happened during the second T20 between India and New Zealand in Rajkot on November 4.

The incident is from the 12th over when wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal delivered a slower delivery to Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson who went down on his knees to play a sweep shot. He missed the delivery as the ball struck his forearm and went in the air and was caught by MS Dhoni. After grabbing the ball, Dhoni didn’t suggest to go for a review, however, Kohli went for it.

Third umpire Shamsuddin had a look at the replays also took help from the snicko to check if the ball made any contact with his glove or the bat at any point. But there was nothing and he asked the on-field umpires to ‘stay with your original decision’.

New Zealand level series 1-1

On Saturday, New Zealand defeated India by 40 runs to level the series 1-1 with the final T20I will be played at Trivandrum. The opening duo Colin Munro and Martin Guptill provided a perfect start to the visiting team as they built a 105 runs partnership. Team India got the first breakthrough in the 12th over when Guptill lost his wicket to Yuzvendra Chahal. Soon, the guest had another blow as their skipper Kane Williamson went back to pavilion after losing his wicket to debutant pacer Mohammed Siraj.

However, Munro continued hammering the Indian bowlers and completed his second hundred in a calendar year. He took them to 196 which eventually proved to be a winning score.
