Virat Kohli made his international debut back in 2008 and hasn’t backtracked ever since. He has tasted equal success in all the three formats- ODIs, Tests and T20Is. His fandom across the globe, owing to his authoritative run, has escalated as his career has progressed. Kohli has racked up a number of records for the Indian team and is currently one of the stalwarts of their lineup.

He isn’t someone who prefers to curb his natural instincts and nurture any inhibitions, both on and off the field. He also doesn’t allow the bowlers to dictate terms to him, rather likes to get under their skins with his unflinching style of batsmanship. Apart from his cricketing career, Kohli is also a popular figure on the social media platforms, mostly Twitter and Instagram.

Kohli’s jaw-dropping popularity

The Delhi-born batsman has 25.8 million and 23.2 million followers on Twitter and Instagram respectively. He keeps uploading pictures with wife Anushka Sharma or with his mates on a frequent basis in order to connect with fans. Meanwhile, as per reports in India Today, he is now the ninth-ranked sportsperson on the amount of money brands need to shell out for one sponsored Instagram post.

They need to pay him a whopping USD 120,000 and the same is more than Floyd Mayweather, an American professional boxer. The retired boxer has 20.7 million followers on Instagram and he earns up to 107,000 per post. Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese footballer, tops the list with earnings of USD 750,000. Neymar of Brazil is second on the list with USD 600,000.

Overall Virat is 17th on the list above all Indian celebrities. Kohli is currently in England where the Indian team recently played three T20Is and as many ODIs against England. Virat and Co will now play a five-match Test series, which starts on August 1 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
