Ajinkya Rahane, the stand-in Test captain of India, celebrated his 30th birthday on Wednesday as the wishes poured in for him from all the corners of the cricketing world. He is known one of the nicest sportspersons going around in the fraternity and many highlighted his same quality in their birthday wish for him. However, Virender Sehwag came up with a hilarious message for him which left all the fans gushing over it.

Sehwag, ever since his retirement, has been very much active on social media and has kept his followers busy with his witty tweets. While everyone wished Rahane in the nicest way, he praised the birthday boy’s exploits with the bat with a special rhyming message in Hindi. He backed Rahane to win many overseas series for India on the back of his scintillating performances.

Virender Sehwag also hoped that Ajinkya Rahane continues to bring laurels to his country in his message which read, “Rahane ke Bahaane Bharat kai overseas series jeetegi . Happy Birthday @ajinkyarahane88 . May you continue to blossom.” No wonder the former Indian cricketer is confident of the vice-captain of the Indian team as he has been rock solid in the middle order for them mostly in whites and has bailed the team out of trouble more often than not.

He averages 52 on the foreign soil and has also smashed 6 of his nine centuries away from home in the Test format. Unfortunately, he has not cemented his place in the limited overs formats but Rahane will be itching to do the same soon. He will be leading the Indian team in the one-off Test match against Afghanistan which will also see the debutants making their debut in the longest format.

This will be a challenge for the stand-in skipper as the hosts have decided to rest some of the key players of the team and it goes without saying that he will have to step up to the task and lead from the front.
