Virender Sehwag bats for honoring Dipa Karmakar and Lalita Babar

Dipa Karmakar and Lalita Babar have stolen the hearts of one and all when they were able to pull off something in the history of Indian sport that not many could quite fathom. Although they did not manage to clinch a medal, they have won over millions of hearts all over the world. However, they have also managed to win a heart with a considerable amount of influence in Indian sports. Although it has been quite a while since Virender Sehwag called time on his cricketing career, his antics are far from over.
With a Twitter account as active as he was in his playing career, Sehwag has set the social media to handle ablaze with some entertaining tweets that have set the Twitterati on fire. The Huffington Post, an international journal has used the case of Virender Sehwag and his twitter account to explain and prove that one can indeed achieve celebrity status on Twitter.
However, in recent times, Sehwag, much like the other Indians following the Olympic Games in Rio has been mesmerized by the two girls Dipa Karmakar and Lalita Babar who have staked their claim in the Olympics this time around. In a tweet, Sehwag attached a note to the Prime Minister of the Country with a humble yet strange request. After briefly speaking about their achievements in the Olympic Games, Sehwag requested PM Narendra Modi as well as Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu to consider naming a special plane and a train also perhaps, even if it was for a few days to pay tribute to these wonderful athletes. Moreover, Sehwag underlined the fact that this gesture would also go on to motivate parents to allow their children to take up to sports.

Sehwag in his letter to PM stated, “What two bright young girls, Dipa Karmakar and Lalita Babar have achieved despite the enormous challenges they have faced through their personal situations is truly exceptional. It’s important that we honour their efforts.”
