The Pulwama Attacks on February 14 have turned out to be a massive development in the last few days and India and Pakistan have been going through a rather heated phase. In a recent development, a MiG Bison landed on the other side of the Line of Control (LOC) on Wednesday, February 27 and Wing Commander and pilot Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by the Pakistan army.

He was thereafter attacked severely by the local mobs and a video of the same went viral. The Pakistan Army thereafter released a video where the Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot can be seen treated with utmost care. Many lauded him for the calm and composed demeanour and also wished for his well-being.

Abhinandan to return

The likes of Aakash Chopra, Irfan Pathan and many appreciated the braveheart. Imran Khan, the Honourable Pakistan Prime Minister, whose integrity has been questioned following the attack, also came under severe pressure. Recently, Khan announced that Abhinandan would return to his motherland.

The decision came as a ‘gesture of peace’. While many reckon that the decision is in line with the Geneva conventions, a lot of them also welcomed the decision. While being in custody, Abhinandan refrained from disclosing any personal information and it gained appreciation from every nook and corner of the country.

In the meantime, Varthaman is set to return India today at the Attari-Wagah border where he’ll be handed to India. Virender Sehwag, who has been pretty active in the social media, commenting on the incident, showed his excitement over Varthaman’s return to the nation.

The retired cricketer took to Twitter, expressed his elation and wrote, “How proud we are to have you ! Bow down to your skills and even more your grit and courage #WelcomeBackAbhinandan . We love you and are filled with pride because of you.”
