The second wave of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has caused a medical emergency-like situation in India. The rapid increase in the daily tally of the positive coronavirus cases has left the system exposed and vulnerable. In testing times, many people have come forward to help fellow citizens by providing help in whatever way they can.

The cricket fraternity is also not behind as many players including the likes of captain Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Rishabh Pant, Jaydev Unadkat and many more have shown solidarity with the people of India. Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag is also doing his bit to help India fight the deadly virus via his foundation, Virender Sehwag Foundation.

On April 25, the official Twitter handle of the Virender Sehwag Foundation announced that they will be providing healthy home-cooked food to all the COVID-19 affected families in Delhi. Also, the foundation claimed that they were in the process of procuring oxygen concentrators.

“Sehwag Foundation is helping feed Covid patients & other needy with free nutritious home-cooked food in Delhi. For requirements please DM your details. We are also in the process of procuring Oxygen Concentrators. If you wish to contribute u can donate to virenderfoundation84@upi,” the foundation had tweeted.

Privileged to have offered over 51000 free home-cooked meals: Virender Sehwag Foundation

20 days later, the Virender Sehwag Foundation quoted their tweet to proudly announce that they have offered free home-cooked meals to as many as 51000 COVID-19 affected families in Delhi. Further, the organization urged the people to let them know if any other family in Delhi also needs their service.

“Privileged to have offered over 51000 free home-cooked meals so far to covid patients in the last month in Delhi NCR. If you have a family in Delhi which is affected by Covid and need home-cooked food made with love, please do DM,” they tweeted.

Apart from Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir’s organization, the Gautam Gambhir Foundation is also helping the people in the Capital city in times of crisis. Gambhir, with the help of his organisation, distributes Fabiflu medicines free to the affected people.

However, Gambhir got into trouble for distributing the medicines. The Delhi Police has started an inquiry against the veteran opening batsman to know how he got access to the medicine that was in shortage.
