India’s new found “Pocket-sized dynamo” Kedar Jadhav has been a revelation for Team India batting at No.6 position in limited overs cricket and was instrumental in India winning the 3 match ODI series against the Brits by a 2-1 margin. He harboured hopes of a dramatic victory in the 3rd and the final ODI at the Eden Gardens but was eventually held out in the deep in the penultimate delivery of the match.

With 16 needed off the last over, Kedar smashed Chris Woakes for a six and a four in the first two balls of the over. Executing an inside out shot is not easy and the little man did that twice in such a pressure-cooker situation. But after hitting those two big shots Kedar failed to connect the next two deliveries and with 6 required off 2 balls, the scales again shifted in the favour of England. He was held out in the deep cover when he attempted another similar type of a shot but could manage to slice it straight to the fielder.

Former Indian opener and the man who used to torment world-class bowling line-ups during his heydeys, Virender Sehwag was in awe of the man who he never thought could become such a big power hitter at the international level. Sehwag lauded him for heroics and conceded that winning and losing is a part and parcel of the game but the way Kedar fought till the end and took India to touching distance of a series whitewash deserves special mention.

In his first tweet, Sehwag wrote, Further praising him he tweeted again and wrote, “Kedar Jadhav is the find of this series. Never thought he could prove to be such a power hitter. Gotta prove himself overseas now.”

Jadhav will surely want to take his rich vein of form into the Champions Trophy in England later in the year where India will be touted as one of the front-runners to defend their title.
