Virender Sehwag lauds his team performance in the first half of the tournament

After four consecutive victories on the trot, Kings XI Punjab’s winning run finally came to halt. The Sun Risers managed to win at home after being taken to the cleaners in their first encounter with the Punjab franchise. This time around, they managed to vanquish the Chris Gayle threat.

Mentor Virender Sehwag was satisfied with his team’s performances in the first half of the tournament. He took to Twitter in order to portray the same. On the other hand, he also congratulated Sunrisers Hyderabad on their brilliant performance. He also lauded youngster Ankit Rajpoot for the five-wicket haul.

SRH clinch victory in a low scoring thriller

In what was a low scoring humdinger against Sun Risers Hyderabad, Rashid Khan and Shakib Al Hasan spun a web around the Punjab batsmen after a good start. They ended up winning by a small margin of 13 runs.

Earlier, it was the Kings XI Punjab who managed to restrict the Sun Risers Hyderabad to 132/6. Ankit Rajpoot bowled stupendously as he ended up with a five-wicket haul. Mujeeb Ur Rahman got the other wicket as SRH failed to put a huge total on the board.

However, for the second time in a row, it was their bowlers making up for the low score. Kings XI Punjab had a great start as both KL Rahul and Chris Gayle were off to another flier. However, once both men in form were dismissed, it triggered a collapse in their batting ranks.

Basil Thampi and Sandeep Sharma also stepped up well in the absence of stalwart Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Both got a couple of wickets as Punjab were 13 runs short of the target when they were bundled for 119 runs. The Sun Risers Hyderabad are now at the second while Punjab is at the third position of the points table.
