Virender Sehwag left fuming at the condition of the Ranchi stadium for the death of Vishal Kumar Verma

Former India opener Virender Sehwag has been left furious by the conditions of a stadium in Ranchi which led to the death of a national level wrestler. Wrestler Vishal Kumar Verma passed away as a result of an electrocution at the Jaipal Singh Stadium in Ranchi on Tuesday. The 22-year-old sport’s professional was electrocuted by a wire in the bathroom which was hanging loose.

He was spotted unconscious by a group of locals and was taken to the hospital immediately. Unfortunately, the doctors at the hospital declared him dead on arrival. It was reported that the wrestler who was visiting the Jharkhand State Wrestling Association (JSWA) was ‘brought dead’ at the hospital. According to reports, the stadium was filled with water due to excessive rainfall at the place which turned out to be a major reason behind the electrocution.

Virender Sehwag, who is a familiar and active personality on Twitter, took to the social media platform to express his views on the shameful incident. Sehwag slammed the government for its ignorance towards the infrastructure at the stadiums. Sehwag termed the incident as a disgraceful one and was saddened by the loss of a national level athlete.

Sehwag’s tweet read “Another Negligence.We have lost a National Wrestler #VishalKumarVerma ,due to electrocution at this water logged stadium in Ranchi.Pathetic!”

JSWA head Bhola Singh, stated the association will give an amount of Rs. 1 Lakh to Vishal Kumar’s family immediately, to help them cope up with the loss. They will also pay a sum of Rs. 10,000 to his family on a monthly basis as Verma was the only earning member of the family. Bhola Singh labelled the incident as a very unfortunate one and hailed Verma as the club’s most trusted grapper.

“He didn’t respond to treatment and was declared dead. It’s an unfortunate incident. He was our most trusted grappler and was given the responsibility of opening the office in the morning. He also ran errands. But Tuesday morning proved fatal,” he said.
