Team India endured a perfect outing in the third Test of the five-match series at Trent Bridge and defeated England by a whopping 203 runs. Almost every batsman in the line-up was amongst the runs and then the bowlers did their job of picking 20 wickets. They will now look to back the good show in Southampton as well and level the series with one match to play. However, Virender Sehwag wants them to be spot on in their team selection and is hoping that they don’t make any change for the fourth Test.

The skipper Virat Kohli is known to do selection goof-ups more often than not. He left out the vice-captain of the team Ajinkya Rahane in South Africa and then didn’t pick Cheteshwar Pujara in the first Test against England. However, his big mistake was to play Kuldeep Yadav at Lord’s under cloudy conditions. He bowled only nine overs in the match and India lost the game by an innings and 159 runs.

I personally don’t want any changes

Virender Sehwag, while speaking to India TV, was not sure if the visitors will go into the fourth Test without any changes. Kohli is yet to play an unchanged side in the back-to-back Tests in 38 matches under his captaincy. Sehwag believed that the team is looking balanced and strong which can do well consistently.

“It is difficult to say that there won’t be any changes. I personally don’t want changes for the next Test but he (Kohli) might not. The team looks balanced and strong with a good pace attack and Ashwin in good form. The openers are doing well and the middle order also played well at Trent Bridge,” he said. He also pointed out the improved slip cordon of the Indian team and it shouldn’t be disturbed.

Moreover, Sehwag also reminisced the golden days when the likes of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar didn’t use to drop even a single catch while standing in the slips. “KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Kohli were phenomenal with their catching which was a big factor in the win. During my playing days we had an experienced slip cordon filled with greats like Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Tendulkar who hardly dropped catches,” the 39-year-old added.
