Former Indian left-arm spinner Bishan Singh Bedi was known for his art as a spin bowler. He loved to toss the ball up to the batsmen and challenge them to hit him but deceived them with flight, loop, turn and pace. Bedi played 67 Tests for India and claimed 266 wickets with an average of 28.71.

The legend celebrates his 70th birthday today and the cricketing universe took the opportunity to wish the man who gave them fond memories when he had the red ball in his hand. First among the few to post a tweet was Virender Sehwag. He wrote – ‘Hpy Bdy to a man who did not bowl, but did poetry instead.A man who cheated batsmen with a cherry in hand @BishanBedi’

Though Viru mentioned cheating in a light hearted sense trying to describe how he out-skilled the batsmen which made it look like he had an unfair advantage over them. Bishan paaji replied to his Tweet, thanked and said – ‘@virendersehwag Thx Veeru..but just to clarify..I might’ve deceived batsmen in air or off wkt..but I never ‘cheated’ on Crkt ground..Cheers!’

Among the other prominent names who wished Bedi were former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif and Team India head coach Anil Kumble along with young spinner Rahul Sharma.
