Delhi Capitals (DC), formerly the Daredevils, have been the perennial underachievers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) over the years. Despite having some of the best in the business, they are yet to win the trophy. However, they have every chance of going all the way through as they managed to qualify for their maiden IPL final, beating the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Qualifier 2.

The team, captained by Shreyas Iyer, after electing to bat first, racked up 189 in their 20 overs. Shikhar Dhawan’s 78, Marcus Stoinis’ 38 and Shimron Hetmyer’s unbeaten 42 guided them to the substantial score. While defending the score, DC picked up quite a few early wickets. However, Kane Williamson, who’s known to have a calm head, didn’t throw in the towel by any means.

When push came to shove, Kane scored 67 runs off 45 balls with the help of five fours and four sixes. But his efforts went in vain as DC won by 17 runs. Stoinis and Kagiso Rabada were the wreakers in chief, picking three and four wickets respectively. The Capitals will now be facing the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday, November 10 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Sehwag praises DC in his unique style

In the meantime, Virender Sehwag, the former Indian cricketer, congratulated the team for the stupendous show in the cash-rich and prestigious league. The Nawab of Najafgarh quoted one of Salman Khan’s popular dance numbers to praise the Capitals.

Sehwag took to Twitter and wrote, “Congratulations #DelhiCapitals on reaching the finals. The only active IPL team to have not ever played a final makes it to the final. 2020… Aur bahut kuch dikhayega. #DCvSRH.”

The song, performed by the legendary Sonu Nigam, is from the movie, ‘Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega’, released way back in 2000. Apart from Salman, the movie also featured Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee.

Interestingly, Preity is also the co-owner of the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), who are also yet to get their hands on the coveted IPL trophy. As far as Salman is concerned, his family has brought the Kandy Tuskers franchise in the inaugural Lanka Premier League (LPL)
