Dale Steyn oozes passion whenever he takes the field, there’s no dearth of intensity from the Steyn Gun when he’s weaving his magic with the leather. The ball has been a slave to the fiery pacer and the pitch has rarely let him down. Irrespective of the nature of wickets, he has been able to unfold mayhem in the opposition camp. On every other occasion, he runs in and gives his all with everything he has.

The scream after pinning a batsman isn’t a mere ‘celebration antic’, rather it’s the fire in his belly, the zeal to thrive that comes forth. Such has been his caliber that once, he was able to make batsmen of the class of Sachin Tendulkar look like a cat on a hot tin roof. It was in the very series in 2011 where the Master Blaster notched his 99th international century. His career hasn’t been alike a drive on the highway.

Ambitious Steyn

He has been slapped with injuries on quite a few injuries, but Steyn’s fervor to keep playing ensured that he storms back every other time. He turned 35 today, which is a considerable age for a pacer who prefers to challenge the bowling speedometer whenever he marks his run-up. His toe injury, which he sustained in South Africa’s Test series versus India, kept him out for quite a while.

He didn’t let the situation dictate terms; he went to England; played County Cricket for Hampshire; bowled a couple of peaches to dismiss Cheteshwar Pujara, India’s stalwart in the Test team and is raring to don the national colors versus Sri Lanka a couple of weeks from now. Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag, a former Indian cricketer, admitted his ferocity as a pacer and a troublemaker for batsmen.

He took to Twitter and wished Steyn on his birthday in his own trademark style. He wrote,”Whenever you think of the most dangerous bowlers in the world @DaleSteyn62 ka sthan sada rahega. Whenever Steyn bowled, the grass always seemed greener than what it was. Happy Birthday Steyn Gun !”
