The 118-member Indian Olympic contingent didn’t have the best of times out there at Rio de Janeiro as they only managed to win 2 medals, a Silver and a Bronze in the biggest sporting extravaganza. One of the two medalists wrestler Sakshi Malik today expressed her desire to meet former Indian opener Virender Sehwag with a Tweet.

The 58kg freestyle wrestler Tweeted – ‘@virendersehwag Good morning sir , I want to meet u , please tell me time, when u feel convenient, today or tomorrow, Sakshi malik’

Sehwag immediately agreed to meet Sakshi who opened India’s account in the medal tally, but a Tweet from Viru paaji is never complete without a punch in it. He wrote – Sure ,will let you know the time. Hope you won’t start wrestling with me, Sakshi

Earlier after the wrestler won the medal Sehwag who also hails from her home state of Haryana had Tweeted – ‘Sakshi Malik is a reminder of what can happen if you don’t kill a girl child. When the going gets tough, its our girls who get going & save our pride.’

He wished to emphasize the fact since Haryana is the state with the worst sex ratio in the country and the daughter from the state had made the nation proud as she won a hard fought Bronze medal. Sakshi beat her Kyrgyzstani opponent Aisuluu Tynybekova in the bronze medal match after making her way through the repêchage rounds.

It was just yesterday that Sehwag had a Twitter duel with English journalist Piers Morgan after the latter questioned India’s celebration on winning two medals in the Rio games which he termed ‘lost medals. Morgan had Tweeted – ‘Country with 1.2 billion people wildly celebrates 2 losing medals. How embarrassing is that?’

The Indian fans were irked by the comment and took turns at replying with stones for the brick thrown towards them and Sehwag also had a response for him. Viru quoted his Tweet and wrote – “We cherish every small happiness’ But Eng who invented Cricket,&yet2win a WC,still continue to playWC.Embarrassing?”
