Sehwag is known for his openness on social media and does not hesitate to poke fun of other cricketers and celebrities. Sometimes, he can even pull his own wife’s leg. Most recently, the former India opener took to Twitter to share some friendly advice to all married men out there.

Virender Sehwag posted a picture of himself along with his wife in an unknown location with a caption that read, “Wife Sukhi , Life Sukhi . #SimpleMantra.”

Virender Sehwag in the race for India coach

On a more serious note, Sehwag is one of the many contenders for the position of head coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Following the fiasco which involved Anil Kumble, Virat Kohli and the BCCI, Kumble stepped down as coach of Team India.

The BCCI had earlier invited applications from prospective candidates for the big job. Viru is one of six candidates who want to succeed Kumble. Former India Team director Ravi Shastri, Afghanistan coach Lalchand Rajput, Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody, former Pakistan coach Richard Pybus and former India pacer Doda Ganesh are the others in the race.

These names were short-listed to be interviewed by the Cricket Advisory Committee comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. Shastri is the latest name who has thrown his hat in the ring, which has heated up the race for the next India coach.

Reports of Virender Sehwag having submitted a two-line CV made the rounds in social media as soon as he had applied for the job. However, Sehwag rubbished all such reports and stated that his application conformed to the requirements of the BCCI. The board has officially extended the timeline for submission of applications for the post of the head coach of the Indian cricket team to July 9.
