Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag who is now pretty well set in his role as a Twitter troll pulled out his swords of words once again and slashed it at Sri Lankan umpire Kumar Dharamsena. Dharamsena who is officiating in the Australia vs New Zealand 2nd ODI of the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy, 2016 declared Australian skipper Steve Smith out caught behind but a review from the batsman and he had to overturn his decision.

The third ball of the 33rd over Tim Southee bowled a length delivery that pitched on good length and nipped back in from outside the off-stump of the batsman. Smith tried to hit it behind point but completely missed it. The bowler and the wicketkeeper went up for the appeal though wasn’t a spontaneous appeal Southee persisted and eventually Dharamsena raised his finger. He considered there to be an under-edge and adjudged him out caught behind.

Smith was certain he hadn’t edged it and immediately asked for a DRS review. The third umpire went through the hotspot, the snicko and closely looked at the slow motion rock and roll but there was nothing on the hotspot or the snicko and no evidence of there being a deflection either. He thus decided to overturn the on-field decision and asked him to declare Smith not out.

Soon after the incident, Sehwag couldn’t stop himself from taking a dig at Dharamsena who hasn’t had the best of times on the field in recent past. He sarcastically pointed out that after his grand success in India and Bangladesh he is enjoying his time in Australia. Viru also renamed the Decision Review System – DRS as Dharamsena Review System.

His tweet read, “Bas itte Se reh gaya,Smith ko sahi decision dene Se. After grand success in India&Bangladesh, #DharmasenaReviewSystem now in Australia too.”
